ecotel: slight increase in revenues and EBITDA
* Revenue guidance of appr. EUR 100 million and EBITDA guidance of EUR 5 - 5,5 million for 2009
* New efficiency improvement program

Düsseldorf, August 14, 2009
Ecotel stabilized its revenue development in the second quarter of 2009 and increased revenues to EUR 24.3 million - compared to revenues of EUR 24.1 million for the first quarter of 2009. On a year to year comparison revenues for the first six months of 2009 are 8% lower. The decline can be attributed to the tight economic situation as well as the competitive situation in the business segment and the suspended processing of the uninterrupted takeover of access lines by Deutsche Telekom AG (DTAG).
EBITDA in the second quarter was EUR 1.3 million and was EUR 0.1 million above the previous quarter's EBITDA, however, stayed EUR 0.4 million below previous year figures. The cumulated EBITDA for the first six months of 2009 was EUR 2.5 million. EBIT in the second quarter was EUR 0.3 million and was EUR 0.6 million lower than the previous year figure. Net income for the first six months was EUR 0.1 million. This amounts to earnings per share of EUR 0.03.

A preliminary success was achieved in the regulatory environment. In July DTAG's claim against the regulatory body's (Bundesnetzagentur) decision of an abusive misconduct by DTAG regarding the takeover of DTAG access products by resellers was dismissed. In this context ecotel awaits the final regulatory decision regarding the discounted resale of PSTN and ISDN access lines, which is due for September 2009.

As part of its multi supplier strategy for access lines ecotel is going to sell an innovative product bundle based on the infrastructure of alternative carriers in the forthcoming weeks.

In order to improve its profitability ecotel has launched an efficiency improvement program in the areas of procurement, administration and staff in order to achieve cost savings of EUR 0.8 million for 2009 and savings plus synergies of more than EUR 2.5 million for 2010.
Due to the ongoing delay of the regulatory decision regarding the resale of PSTN and ISDN lines ecotel expects to generate revenues of appr. EUR 100 million and to generate an EBITDA adjusted for extraordinary cost and revenues of EUR 5 - 5,5 million for 2009.
